How to read it
One point per day: the dollar price at which HYPE, the token of the Hyperliquid exchange and blockchain, closed that day. The series starts on 13 December 2024, two weeks after the token launched on 29 November 2024, which is the first day our price source publishes a daily close.
With the log scale on, equal vertical distances are equal percentage moves. That keeps the first weeks, when the price moved by tens of percent in a few days, comparable with the slower moves that came later.
HYPE trades around the clock on Hyperliquid's own order books and on centralised exchanges, so a daily close is a snapshot taken at midnight UTC. It hides the swings inside the day, and the level can differ slightly between data vendors that close the day at other moments or weigh markets differently.
Limitations
- Glassnode builds its price from a volume-weighted average across centralised and decentralised exchanges with its own outlier filtering; ours is Coin Metrics' daily reference close. The two agree closely but are not identical.
- The history starts on 2024-12-13: the first two weeks of trading after the launch on 2024-11-29 are not included.
- One value per day: intraday highs and lows are not shown, so daily peaks and crashes look smaller than they felt in real time.
- Prices are in US dollars, not adjusted for inflation. HYPE's main market is quoted in USDC, a dollar stablecoin that can drift slightly from one dollar.
