Formula

ATH = highest daily HYPE/USD close from 2024-12-13 up to and including the day. Drawdown = close / ATH − 1, so 0% on a new high and −100% at a price of zero.

How to read it

Every day the chart sets the HYPE close against the highest close recorded up to that day. A day that sets a new record reads 0%; any other day shows how far below that record the price stands, as a share of the peak. The record itself is drawn on the price axis as a staircase that only steps up.

HYPE has traded only since late November 2024, but its declines have already been deep: about 69% on 6 April 2025, measured from the high of 21 December 2024, and about 64% on 20 January 2026, measured from the high of 18 September 2025. Both times the price later climbed to new records. The dotted lines mark a loss of half and of three-quarters of the peak value.

A drawdown only looks backwards: it says how far the price has fallen from its peak, not whether it will fall further or recover. Long stretches near 0% are rallies that keep printing new highs.

Limitations

  • Built from one daily close per day (Coin Metrics Community Data, HYPE/USD at 00:00 UTC). Glassnode aggregates prices across many exchanges and does not say whether its all-time high uses daily closes, hourly prices or intraday highs; an intraday high would sit above our close high and make every drawdown a little deeper, by a few percentage points right after a sharp peak.
  • The history starts on 2024-12-13, two weeks after the token launched on 2024-11-29. Hyperliquid's own HYPE/USDC market never closed above our first close in those two weeks, so the missing days do not change the all-time high.
  • Cross-checked by recomputing the same drawdown from Hyperliquid's own HYPE/USDC spot closes: on a typical day the two differ by about 0.3 percentage points, 95% of days are within 1.3 points, and both put the all-time high on the same day.
  • The all-time high column is our own addition to show which peak each reading is measured from.
  • Price-only and backward-looking: it describes how deep past declines went and says nothing about the next move.
