Data cross-checked. Computed from the validated daily BTC close (each cycle's close divided by its close on the cycle's all-time high). BTC price: cross-checked against Bitstamp daily BTC/USD close (independent exchange) (median difference 0.14% over 5,548 days (2011-08-18 to 2026-10-25); 95% of days within 1.78%). Cycle performance on day k = close k days after the cycle ATH / close on the cycle ATH. A cycle ATH is an all-time-high close followed by a fall of at least 75% before the next all-time high; the latest all-time high opens the current cycle. Each older cycle runs up to and including the next cycle ATH and is shifted so that its day 0 falls on the current cycle ATH.
Each line follows one Bitcoin cycle from the close of its all-time high, as a share of that close: 100% is the peak itself, 50% means price has halved since. The older cycles are slid forward in time so that every peak lands on 6 October 2025, the latest all-time high, and the dates on the time axis belong to the current cycle. Reading straight down from any date compares the cycles the same number of days after their tops.
A peak counts as a cycle top when price fell at least 75% from it before setting a new high; four have done so, in June 2011, December 2013, December 2017 and November 2021. Their deepest closes came 163, 406, 364 and 366 days after the top, at about 7%, 15%, 16% and 23% of it, so each bear market has been a little shallower than the one before. A year and a bit after the October 2025 top, the current cycle has held up better than any of them at the same point: its lowest close so far was about 47% of the peak, at the end of June 2026.
Each older trace stops on the day the next cycle top was set, so its last value is how many times higher that next peak was: about 39 times for 2011, 17 times for 2013, 3.4 times for 2017 and 1.8 times for 2021. With so few cycles, the chart sets the current one against its predecessors; it does not say where the bottom will be or when.
